Step lights are a key component of outdoor garden safety lighting. The core selection criteria are balancing safety and glare prevention, waterproofing and weather resistance, suitability for the chosen environment, and compatibility with the overall decor. They should ensure safe passage up and down steps at night while enhancing the garden's ambiance. Here are the specific selection points:

Safety First, Focus on Core Parameters. Step lights should ideally be low-glare models to avoid bright light shining directly into the eyes. Diffuse reflection or models with light shields are recommended. Brightness should be controlled between 200-500lm, with a warm white light color temperature of 2700K-3000K for soft, non-glaring illumination. Waterproofing is crucial for outdoor use. Steps are prone to water accumulation and dust accumulation; therefore, IP65 or higher protection ratings are necessary. Recessed step lights are recommended to be upgraded to IP67 to prevent rainwater ingress and damage to the light body.

Suitable for the Environment, Choose the Appropriate Model. Based on installation method, steps can be categorized into recessed, wall-mounted, and column-mounted types. Recessed steps save space, are aesthetically pleasing and neat, and are suitable for most steps. Wall-mounted steps are installed on the side of the steps, facilitating maintenance and suitable for steps where recessed installation is not feasible. Column-mounted steps are suitable for scenarios with space on both sides of the steps, and also serve a decorative purpose. For materials, aluminum alloy and 304 stainless steel are preferred as they are corrosion-resistant and anti-aging, avoiding ordinary plastic or iron materials to extend their lifespan.

Details enhance the user experience. LED light sources are recommended for their energy efficiency, durability, high luminous efficacy, long lifespan, and easy maintenance. A human body sensor function can be added, turning on when someone enters and off when they leave, saving energy and providing peace of mind. When selecting lights, it's important to ensure consistency with the overall garden style. For modern minimalist styles, choose clean lines; for Chinese courtyards, opt for retro designs to ensure a balance of aesthetics and practicality.
